In case you've missed it, help_haiti is doing a huge fandom auction for charity. Baked goods! Knittery! More fic, original and fanwork, than you can shake a stick at! So far, the charities that seem to be the best choices are Partners in Health and Doctors Without Borders/Medicins Sans Frontiers. DWB/MSF take international currencies (PIH may too, I just haven't had cause to check). People on my flist are offering AWESOME THINGS.

If you haven't realized, the Sealab 2012 and Frisky Dingo creator (and some of the crew) is back with a new show on FX called Archer. It has not reached Frisky Dingo levels of WTF hilarity, but it's still damn funny and I have high hopes!

I love Yuletide this year, because the works are already at Archive of Our Own, so I don't have to bookmark or fiddle around with my master list. Well, that's not the only reason I love Yuletide this year...

My main story was Drive, for the Speed Racer (2008) movie. Fortunately, karose was around to beta, and lindentreeisle took a second look. I knew I wouldn't get much for comments on this one, but the people who liked it seem to love it. And that, baby, is what Yuletide is all about.

My second Yuletide-length fic was Travel, a Petshop of Horrors story I tried to claim as a pinch hit the night Yahoo decided it hated elynross-- so I wrote it as if it were my assignment, just in case it turned out to be. The recipient really seemed to like this one too, which made me super happy.

The most proper research I did this year was for a drabble, Shared Interests, about Nick Yemana from yes, Barney Miller. Look at what I found! Born Free and Equal is a book of photographs by Ansel Adams about the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII. It's pretty amazing, I'll probably make a second post about it later.

I would never have written Best. Mom. Ever. as a Yuletide story, because it's futurefic, and even in Futurama, I try to stay within the bounds of canon unless a writer has a specific wish that pretty much mirrors my id. But it was a Madness story, so I went a little crazy with speculation. :D

Maybe my favorite story is one that didn't get many comments (though the ones I got were good!): Comfort, a drabble in the Full Metal Panic universe.

And the last (but not least) story I posted was for a fandom I offered and still kind of wish I'd been assigned: Paul Simon's Graceland album. Fried Banana Sandwiches is based on the title track.

I am slowly compiling some recs for Yuletide-- you can find them over at my Archive of Our Own account. Someone wrote American Psycho, whee!

I was so excited by my Yuletide fic I forgot to bookmark it at first! Speaking for Himself, an Asterix the Gaul fic. Asterix! And it's good! Thank you, Yuletide writer, I'm tremendously pleased by it. Asterix is so sweet in this, and he's kind of a grumpy butt at times (the beginning of my love for tiny violent blonds, I suspect), so it was nice to see something that reflected how much he cares for his best friend.
