Delete-as-spam is the best way. Comments deleted as spam show up in the spamewhackers' queue, and then whichever spamwhacker is on duty takes care of it.
The one from this morning was just amazingly weird when it showed up in the queue! I freaked out a little, but fortunately the crew was there to figure out what was going on, and it was helpful that you could confirm that it was anonymous (because if it hadn't been anonymous, the developers would have been racing in a different direction to figure out what was causing the problem, and someone would have needed to suspend a user spammer).
Typically when the keysmash-subject/misspelled-compliment spammers are hitting someone's journal, they go for a couple days from a whole bunch of different IP addresses, and then move on to the next victim (with a new set of IP addresses). Just keep on deleting! Stupid spammers.
