At some point, somewhere (and it wasn't one of [personal profile] indelicateink's prompt fests 'cause I made her look) requested Sanzo/Goku AU where I think Sanzo was an architect. He was some kind of high-end genius, anyway, and Goku did 'manual labor.' 'Manual labor' is, for real, the only phrase I remember for sure because that's the title I saved the story under. Anyone have any ideas? I'd like to give credit where credit is due, but...I got nothin'.

My friend Lawless has a question.

For that matter I'm pretty curious now too.

I've been back from vacation for a bit but I haven't even begun trying to catch up. Sorry? Let me know if you've done something awesome. (Lynndyre did something awesome but I'm saving it for another post.)

I've been poking at a Sherlock/Fix Bay'nets crossover and have some military questions, the kind of thing I think is probably common knowledge in the UK but that my Googling has been pretty useless about.

1) Would fellow soldiers address John as "[Rank] Watson," "Doctor Watson" or either/both? It's either/both in the US.

2) Wikipedia tells me that there are pretty much no anti-fraternization rules left in the UK military. I assume that overt relationships between superior and not-superior officers are still subject to rumor and gossip, just like any branch of service, especially those seen as romantic.

3) On the subject of romance, I know gay soldiers are allowed to serve in the military. Is there still underlying prejudices, or is everything pretty much copacetic?

Any help you guys can give me would be great!

Finally saw it. Rec me all the stuff I missed, please? I know some of you put up reviews but I can't seem to remember who or when....

Also, is Steve calling Tony "Tony" by the end or is it still "Mr. Stark"? I kind of lost track with all the jumping up and down in my seat and cheering on and all.

I wrote two stories for Canadian Shack 2, Electric Boogaloo 2011.

Try, Try Again, BBC Sherlock focusing on Lestrade;

Waking, Nagi and Mamoru. I've wanted to throw them into the wilderness for ages.

And then just for funsies, I wrote Whatever Gets You Through the Night, with John/Lestrade. Shut up, I like Lestrade.

Does anyone not comment on AO3? Is it all right if I don't cross-post my AO3 stuff on LJ/DW? I still will sometimes because, you know, I LIKE COMMENTS, I'm just curious.

I really need a John icon.
lady_ganesh: Brainiac V, super-genius (is it 'cause I'm cool (DCU))
Um. Anybody here have a BJD from Angel of Dream?

I'm just. You know. Curious.

Check out the Internet Movie Firearms Database for Black Lagoon. Fuck yes. Now someone who knows about guns needs to write the Saiyuki article.

Also, has anyone found any canon heights for the Lagoon crew? I'm sorely tempted to just give Chang a height (as Chow Yun-Fat is 6'1" and all) and go from there but they don't conveniently stand shoulder-to-shoulder much.

Please answer this incredibly important question about dairy consumption over on the ElJay.

I've been meaning to pass this on: Maevele, who you may have seen in passing in this journal, needs a hand. Please read/pass on/give if you can/are comfortable.

Second is a question about criminal procedure in the UK. I know here on this side of the pond, if your stuff gets stolen, it can end up as evidence and you won't get it back for a while. I'm assuming this is the same in London as it in the US, but am not sure. Anyone know?

Are there indications in the show about what class John might have come from? I'm toying with Harry being successful in tech and overcoming her social station, or, alternately, John being the one who rebels from his upper-crust background by running off and joining the military.

Help the tone-deaf American?

EDIT: Just running into say I love using my 'flist knows all' tag because IT'S TRUE.

So far, everyone who's weighed in can be found at the thread on my LJ here. Auctions are at LJ and DW.

While of course my friends are all AMAZING and you should bid on them ALL, I want to put in a good word for [personal profile] threewalls, who is just an extraordinary beta (though, of course, all my betas are great). She's put my feet in the right direction too many times to count.

And I've been poking around an idea: I don't really want to do an auction, but do you think people would do a chip-in-pledge thing if I offered to do an fst (fan soundtrack!) for, say, a [profile] weissday fic? (I could put up a poll and people could vote for the story they wanted an fst for most. Depending on how cracky the fics are, it could get quite entertaining.) With [profile] genkischuldich getting caught up in the blackouts, I thought it might be nice to do something for Weissday. Thoughts? Unfortunately, I can't post to the comm and ask people what they think, but I know a couple of you read my flist, lol. ♥

Beta call!

...apparently I need a Britpicker for a brief Sherlock fic. Because this is what procrastinating on purimtreats and weissday brings. PAIN.

Could anyone be a Britpicker for me? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: DONE! You guys are fast, and thanks.

Or my friends who have traveled in Europe. If I had a 100-Euro note in my hand, what would it feel like? I know American money has a specific linen-y texture. What about Euros? Do they have a special size/notch marks/any notation for the blind? TALK TO ME LIKE I'M STUPID KTHNKS.

I may have inhaled the xxxHolic manga this weekend.

Well, mostly today.

So I'm caught up on what's at MangaFox. So...

Fic recs? I think I like everything. Except Clow, I don't care about him. Everyone else cares enough for me.
lady_ganesh: knitted sushi (crafty)
Anyone here ordered from Pugster? A ripoff Pandora bracelet sounds perfect for my niece.
lady_ganesh: Many dishes of yummy-looking Korean food (food glorious food)
I am boiling tapioca pearls to make bubble tea.

You only wish you were half as cool as me.

Also, what should I put in my LJ layout? I need something new.
lady_ganesh: Sanzo can't bring himself to care (sry dun care (Sayuki))
Waaaay back when, I bookmarked an essay on spiritual power and Buddhism (and possibly Shinto), basically a discussion of how anime priests can still be powerful as hell and be womanizers, gamblers, etc, where Western culture has more of a "Gawain and the Green Knight" lose your purity/lose your power thing going on. Miroku might have been an example.

Is this ringing any bells? To anyone? Bueller?

(In other words, even without this handy resource, my essay on Sanzo's quantum virginity for [community profile] kink_bingo is coming up on 500 words. And I haven't really talked about sex yet. Oops.)
lady_ganesh: Tiny Omi going, "Yay!" (yay! (WK))
[personal profile] kenilvort translated my story You'll Never Tan In This Town Again into Russian! How cool is that?

I read not a word of Russian, but IIRC, at least one of y'all do, so enjoy!

[profile] bigbangnitro has pushed its art deadline out a bit, so if you were thinking of vidding/mixing/creating and wanted more time, now you have it!

For those of you in the US, Black Books is up on Hulu. It is pretty amazing. You have to register because it is 'adult' but omg so worth it.

And I am currently messing around with some of the games at Sawbuck Gamer, a feature at the AV Club that features cheap and usually free games.

I had something else but I forgot it. I am woring on an FST, though. Whee, music!

[profile] satorias asked for good fanfiction, and I have found some wonderful stuff, folks.

The Mutant Problem, X-verse interactive fanfiction. It's set up as a piece Peter Parker wrote for The New York Times.

And some amazing cracked-out Star Trek: Reboot crossovers.

AND an Alien universe epistolary story.

Also, someone is trying to remember a TMNT fanfic and I swear I remember it too. HELP.
