If there is one person or more on your friends list who makes your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.
Yeah, yeah. And a new one from
meganbmoore!
List 10 (or however many) platonic male/female relationships in fiction that you enjoy. My attempt at rules:
1. They interact in canon, preferably in a significant (apply your own interpretation of such) way.
2. They are not related. They can, however, view each other as surrogate family.
3. Neither has confessed or implied romantic love for the other in canon.
4. They have not dated, been married, had sex, or made out in canon, on purpose, and over their own free will.
5. A popular fanon ship is ok (though preferably not your ship) but a canon pairing you wish were just friends is out.
6. Try to avoid using the same character or series twice.
7. They don’t have to be friends.
I am also trying to avoid 'will they/won't they' ships.
These are not in any particular order, aside from #1.
1. Modesty Blaise and Willie Garvin, Modesty Blaise books and comics. NUMBER ONE WITH A BULLET. The saddest story in the world is that there's actually a Modesty movie out there with Terrence Stamp-- Terrence Stamp, people! as Willie...and it sucks. THERE IS NO JUSTICE.
2. Abby/Gibbs, NCIS.
3. Olivia/Walter, Fringe. There are actually several relationships that qualify in Fringe, which is nice.
4. Sanzo/Lirin, Saiyuki. Lirin sitting on Sanzo's head never gets old. (I actually like all the Kou-tachi's interactions with the Sanzo-ikkou; this one's just the BEST.)
5. Kirk/Uhura (original flavor Star Trek) was made for that 'own free will' line, but I really do enjoy their interactions.
6. Rukia/Daddy Ichigo, Bleach. Bleach also has a lot of good relationships that qualify!
7. Toph/Aang, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Let's face it, Aang really needed someone to smack him around and call him a pussy.
8. Dutch/Revy, Black Lagoon. Theirs is a friendship full of yelling and guns. I approve.
9. Giles/Anya, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. "Would you like a job?" is and will remain one of my favorite lines on that show. It's the delivery.
10. Don/April, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I swear to heaven that fight between Don and Casey was because Don didn't think he was good enough for her.
11. John/Zhaan, Farscape.
12. Spongebob/Sandy, Spongebob Squarepants. (Shut up.)
13. Does Wolverine/Kitty still qualify? Because I sure as hell hope so. (X-men, so who the hell knows?)
14. Melissa/Sousuke, Full Metal Panic. She's like the crazy alcoholic mom Sousuke never knew he needed.
15. Vimes/Angua, Discworld series. I like all their interactions, but the Care and Feeding of Carrot conversations crack me up every time.<
A few that don't quite qualify:<
Bones/Booth, Bones. It's fine if they hook up. In the final episode. (The producers keep teasing they're going to hook up any day now. Maybe they have, I'm behind.)
Peter/Claire, Heroes. I wasn't shipping them before the whole 'family member' thing came out!
I suspect Kit and Nita in the Young Wizards series will turn romantic one of these days, but I do love their relationship. SPOIL ME AND DIE.
Edited because HTML can suck it.
