I don't think celebrating Spirit Day is wrong - let me be clear on that. I don't think gestures are worthless. I do think it can do things, however briefly, for morale. I do think it can send a message in some cases: "btw, I give a shit about this issue, and I probably won't let you get away with any homophobic bullshit around me" and "if you're queer, I support you".

But let's not fool ourselves.

I've been meaning to post these for ages. I had a

lindentreeisle though. So I was busy. (For those who are curious? She is an awesome houseguest. But you probably already knew that.)

Anyway! If you've followed the Angie Zapata trial at all, you know her murderer will spend the rest of his life in prison, and if you're anything like me, you're delighted. Autumn Sandeen at Pam's House Blend has been following and blogging the trial; it's great stuff.

This post from Autumn really moved me.
